Peugeot has teamed up with independent French watchmaker Serica to fit a one-off wristwatch into the cabin of its RCZ Vision concept car. The Serica Ref. 1174 Parade sits in a purpose-built module in the Peugeot i-Cockpit, where it works as the dashboard clock. It can then be taken out and worn on the wrist.
Peugeot’s RCZ Vision concept car has an unusual interior detail: a mechanical wristwatch that doubles as the dashboard clock. The watch comes from Serica, an independent French watchmaker. According to Peugeot, the two brands came together because they take a similar approach to design and both value mechanical objects that are functional, precise and elegant.
A one-off watch built for the cabin
The watch is a Serica Ref. 1174 Parade, made as a unique piece for this project. Its dial is an exclusive shade called Glacier Blue, which the companies say was developed to match the colours of the RCZ Vision concept.
It sits in a central position within the Peugeot i-Cockpit, the brand’s name for its driver-focused dashboard layout. The design teams at Peugeot and Serica developed a dedicated integration module to hold it.
From dashboard clock to wristwatch
When the watch is fitted, only the front of the case can be seen, so it looks and works like a conventional dashboard clock. Peugeot says the module lets the watch stay legible and keep its own identity while following the lines of the i-Cockpit.
The watch comes out as easily as it goes in. Once removed, it can be worn on the wrist as an ordinary watch.
Why a carmaker and a watchmaker
Peugeot presents the partnership as a meeting of two French houses that both see an object as a whole, with each element contributing to the overall balance. The company says car design and watchmaking share a common language of precision, movement and distinctive lines, and that the Ref. 1174 “Glacier Blue” puts that shared view into physical form.
Carmakers have teamed up with watch brands before, but those deals usually produce a branded watch sold separately. Here the watch is part of the car’s interior design. As with most concept-car features, Peugeot has not said whether the watch or its mounting will appear in a production model.
