The Audi A2 e-tron has made its first trade-show appearance at the Paris Motor Show, a month after its world premiere. Audi calls the all-electric compact the most efficient car it has ever built, quoting WLTP consumption from 12.8 kWh/100 km and a range of up to 646 km (401 miles). Orders are already open, and the first cars reach European roads in December 2026.

Audi has used the Paris Motor Show to present the A2 e-tron to an international audience for the first time. The car was revealed on September 7. The all-electric compact was developed with European buyers in mind and is built at the company’s home plant in Ingolstadt, Germany.

A new efficiency benchmark for Audi

Audi’s headline claim for the A2 e-tron is efficiency. It says the car is the most efficient model in its history. The official WLTP figures show combined electricity consumption of 15.6–12.8 kWh/100 km for the 140 kW version and 15.7–13.9 kWh/100 km for the 170 kW version. Both versions are rated at 0 g/km of CO2 and sit in CO2 class A.

According to Audi, the A2 e-tron covers up to 646 km (401 miles) on the WLTP cycle. Audi has not yet published battery capacity, charging speeds or performance figures in this release.

Built around everyday European driving

Audi describes the A2 e-tron as a car for daily use in European cities. The brand points to Paris as an example of a place where efficient, connected and practical transport matters more and more. Equipment highlights include bidirectional charging, which lets the car return energy from its battery, as well as connected digital features and an interior designed for everyday practicality.

The model adds to Audi’s all-electric compact range in Europe. It gives the brand a smaller, efficiency-focused option below its existing electric models.

“The Audi A2 e-tron stands for three things: maximum efficiency, everyday practicality, and technology that delivers real benefits to customers.”

That is how Rouven Mohr, Member of the Board of Management for Technical Development at AUDI AG, sums up the car.

Reviving a famous name

The A2 badge is a deliberate reference. The original Audi A2 appeared more than two decades ago and put lightweight design, efficiency and practicality first. Audi says the new car carries that idea into the electric era.

Audi also presents the A2 e-tron as proof of a faster development process. The company says it brought the car to market 21 months sooner than comparable earlier models by streamlining development and reaching production readiness earlier in pre-production. Audi says its idea of premium now means using resources more intelligently without giving up quality, technology or customer experience.

What it means

The compact premium EV class keeps getting more crowded, and efficiency is becoming a key way to stand out. Lower consumption means longer range from a given battery and lower running costs. With the A2 e-tron, Audi is betting that buyers will choose that kind of efficiency over outright performance. Pricing and full technical details will decide how well it competes.
