Renault has revealed prices for the Trafic Van E-Tech electric at the Paris Motor Show, with the ADVANCE version starting at €41,500 in France. The electric van was recently named International Van of the Year 2027. Buyers choose between a 60 kWh and an 81 kWh battery, and Renault says running costs come in below those of a comparable diesel van.
Renault chose the Paris Motor Show to put prices on its new electric mid-size van. The Trafic Van E-Tech electric comes in two trim levels, ADVANCE and EXTRA, and with two batteries. Renault calls them the 60 kWh “comfort range” and the 81 kWh “long range”. The prices published so far are for France.
Two batteries, two price points
In ADVANCE trim, the van costs from €41,500 with the 60 kWh battery and from €47,000 with the 81 kWh pack.
The smaller battery has a WLTP range of 350 km (217 miles). Renault says that covers the daily needs of business users working in and around towns and cities. In the WLTP City cycle it is rated at up to 510 km (317 miles). The 81 kWh battery raises the WLTP figure to 470 km (292 miles), or up to 690 km (429 miles) in the City cycle. Renault notes that both sets of figures are still subject to final homologation.
Orders for the 81 kWh long-range versions open in the coming weeks. The 60 kWh versions follow from early 2027.
Fast charging on an 800V system
The van is built on an 800V electrical architecture. With the 81 kWh battery it accepts DC charging at up to 190 kW. Renault says that adds 280 km (174 miles) of combined-cycle range in 20 minutes, or 380 km (236 miles) in urban driving.
Renault quotes a drag figure (CdA) of 1.073 and average consumption of 17.2 kWh/100 km. It says no other van in the class has lower average consumption.
What each trim includes
The entry-level ADVANCE trim is well equipped for a working van. Standard features include:
- a heat pump and fast charging
- a hands-free access and start card
- a bidirectional Vehicle-to-Load (V2L) charger
- adaptive cruise control
- the EVO-R multimedia system with a 12.3-inch screen
- a reversing camera and front, rear and side parking sensors
- full-LED headlights and rear lights
In the load area there is an 8 mm wooden floor, six floor-mounted lashing rings and LED lighting.
The EXTRA trim adds automatic air conditioning, a mobile office, and navigation with Google built-in services, namely Google Gemini Assistant and HERE navigation. It also gets a V2L system with a 230V socket in the cabin. The load area gains a hatch for long items, a second V2L system with a 230V socket and 10 side lashing points. EXTRA versions also wear 16-inch Maximum full wheel covers.
A software-defined van
Renault says the Trafic Van E-Tech electric is the first light commercial vehicle in Europe built on a Software-Defined Vehicle (SDV) platform. Owners can add features on demand, and the van can be updated throughout its life. Renault argues this should help resale values.
Overall, the manufacturer claims total cost of use and total cost of ownership are up to 10% lower than for a diesel van of similar size.
From 2027, Renault also plans to launch a fleet programme called UPTIMIZE. It will use real-time vehicle data and artificial intelligence to shift maintenance from repairing faults to preventing them. Renault’s stated goal is to halve vehicle downtime when something goes wrong. A separate “energy & safety control” app will let fleet managers apply their own settings for energy use, driving modes and maximum speed to selected vans.
What it means
The mid-size electric van segment is getting crowded, and fleet buyers tend to decide on running costs more than list prices. Renault’s pitch rests on 800V charging, software updates and lower cost of ownership. These are the areas where business customers will compare the Trafic with its electric rivals.
