Ford has revealed the Ranger MS-RT Champion Edition at the Paris Motor Show. It is a limited-run version of its rally-inspired pick-up, finished in black and gold. The changes are to styling and trim only, so the plug-in hybrid drivetrain and the MS-RT chassis set-up stay the same. Orders are open now, and first deliveries are due in spring 2027.
A celebration of Ford’s rally partnership
The Champion Edition builds on the Ranger MS-RT, which Ford developed with M-Sport, its long-standing World Rally Championship partner in the UK. The newsletter announcing it describes the truck as a celebration of racing on and off road. Ford says it pairs motorsport-inspired styling with upmarket features and the working ability Ranger buyers expect.
Ford has not said how many will be built. It says only that numbers will be limited.
Black paint, gold details
The body is painted Agate Black. Double gold racing stripes with contrasting edges run over the front wing, bonnet and tailgate. The 21-inch diamond-cut alloy wheels come in a matching gold finish.
The rest of the exterior comes from the regular MS-RT. That includes the wide wheel arches, side skirts and bespoke bumpers. The truck also gets two spoilers, one on the roof and one on the tailgate.
Gold accents inside
Inside, the sports steering wheel has gold contrast stitching and a centre marker. The MS-RT sports seats are trimmed in faux leather and suede, with extra side bolstering and gold stitching. The floor mats also have gold details. A plaque on the centre console marks the truck as an MS-RT special edition.
Standard equipment includes a 12-inch touchscreen running Ford SYNC 4A with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay. There is also ambient lighting and dual-zone automatic climate control. Driver aids include adaptive cruise control, lane-keeping assist, parking assistance and cameras.
Plug-in hybrid power and a lowered chassis
The Champion Edition uses the Ranger plug-in hybrid drivetrain. A 2.3-litre EcoBoost petrol engine works with a 75 kW electric motor, for a combined 281 hp and 697 Nm of torque. According to Ford, it can cover up to 43 km (27 miles) on electric power alone.
It can still do real work. Ford quotes a towing capacity of 3,500 kg (7,716 lb) and a payload of one tonne. Drive goes to all four wheels through an e-4WD system with a differential lock. There are drive modes for eco, towing, mud, slippery surfaces and sand.
The chassis set-up matches the MS-RT. It sits 40 mm (1.6 in) lower than a standard Ranger and has a 40 mm (1.6 in) wider track. The front dampers are upgraded and the rear suspension is retuned.
What it means
The Champion Edition adds no performance. It is aimed at buyers who want a more distinctive pick-up that can still tow and carry like a regular Ranger. Ford Motor Norge describes it as a combination of sporty pick-up luxury and strong working capability. Using the plug-in hybrid as the base also means the most expensive special edition can drive short distances without using fuel.
