The Audi Q7 has been awarded the full five stars in Euro NCAP testing. According to Audi, the large SUV is also the first production model to receive a 100 percent score in the Post-Crash Safety category. This part of the assessment looks at how a car helps occupants and emergency crews in the minutes after a serious accident.

The third-generation Audi Q7 has received the maximum five-star rating from Euro NCAP, the independent European safety assessment body. The bigger news is in one specific area. Audi says the Q7 is the first production model to score 100 percent in Euro NCAP’s Post-Crash Safety category.

Crash safety ratings usually focus on avoiding a collision and protecting occupants during one. The post-crash assessment covers what happens next: how quickly help is alerted, how easily rescuers can get to the occupants, and how much vehicle-specific information emergency crews have at the scene.

What Euro NCAP looks at after a crash

According to Audi, Euro NCAP’s post-crash assessment includes three main areas:

  • automatically alerting the emergency services
  • giving rescuers relevant information about the vehicle
  • making it possible to get occupants out quickly and safely

The Q7 received full marks for rescue information, post-crash support and vehicle exit.

The exit assessment includes several checks. Inspectors look at whether the doors can be unlocked and opened after an impact and whether the car can still be operated if the low-voltage power supply has failed. They also check whether the seat belt buckles can be released.

Emergency call and rescue information

After a serious accident, Audi connect emergency call can alert the rescue services automatically. Audi says the system sends the legally required data set and can also send further vehicle and location information.

Audi also provides rescue data sheets and rescue guides for the Q7. These give emergency crews vehicle-specific information so they can assess the situation more quickly and plan the rescue more precisely.

Multicollision brake reduces the risk of a second impact

The multicollision brake also contributes to the result. Crash sensors detect a relevant collision, and the system can then brake the car automatically to a standstill. The parking brake then stops the car from rolling away and the hazard lights come on. The driver can override the automatic braking. Audi says the aim is to reduce the risk of the car hitting something else after the first impact.

What it means

For buyers comparing large SUVs, the five-star rating matters most. The post-crash result is still significant, because this part of the assessment shows how a car performs once a crash has already happened. Audi says the result reflects its approach of covering safety before, during and after a collision. The company adds that its models, from the compact class to premium SUVs, regularly achieve top ratings in NCAP programmes.

The Q7 is available with five, six or seven seats and comes with quattro all-wheel drive. Euro NCAP has published the detailed results for the 2026 Audi Q7 on its website.
