Mercedes-Benz C 300 4MATIC electric now open to order

Mercedes-Benz has added a second all-wheel-drive version of its new electric C-Class, with the C 300 4MATIC electric now available to order in Germany. The company quotes 310 kW, 800 Nm and up to 690 km (429 miles) of WLTP range from an 85 kWh battery on an 800-volt architecture. German pricing starts at 52,900 euros excluding VAT for business customers and 62,951 euros including VAT for private buyers. Further rear-wheel-drive versions with different battery sizes are still to come.

The electric C-Class range is filling out. Mercedes-Benz announced in Stuttgart on 16 September 2026 that the C 300 4MATIC electric, the second all-wheel-drive variant in the line-up, can now be ordered. German prices start at 52,900 euros excluding VAT for business customers and 62,951 euros including VAT for private customers, with the manufacturer also quoting leasing from 449 euros a month for private buyers on a 36-month contract with a 20 per cent initial payment and 45,000 km of mileage.

More variants are on the way: Mercedes-Benz says additional rear-wheel-drive models with different battery options will follow.

Range, battery and charging

The C 300 4MATIC electric uses an 800-volt architecture and a new lithium-ion battery with 85 kWh of usable capacity. Mercedes-Benz quotes a WLTP range of up to 690 km (429 miles), and says up to 290 km (180 miles) can be added in ten minutes when using the maximum DC charging power. On an 800-volt charger, DC charging peaks at 320 kW.

A new one-box braking system is central to the efficiency claim. According to the company, it can recuperate even during ABS intervention or on icy surfaces, so that up to 99 per cent of all braking events happen without the friction brakes. Peak recuperation is quoted at 300 kW. Combined consumption is given as 17.8–14.1 kWh/100 km, with 0 g/km of CO2 and CO2 class A under WLTP.

Performance and chassis

Peak output is 310 kW (421 hp) with 800 Nm of torque, enough for 0–100 km/h (0–62 mph) in 4.5 seconds. The electric 4MATIC all-wheel-drive system only engages when it is actually needed, which Mercedes-Benz says helps range. AIRMATIC air suspension and rear-axle steering are both optional; the latter shrinks the turning circle and, the company says, adds precision and stability at higher speeds.

Design and interior

The saloon gets a low, flat front, a tight roofline and a rounded tail for a coupé-like profile, with the grille able to run light animations when the car is unlocked, locked or charging, depending on specification. Inside, the dedicated EV architecture frees up a 470-litre boot, a 101-litre frunk and a towing capacity of up to 1.8 tonnes. High-end electric seats offer lumbar support, massage, ventilation and 4D sound.

The dashboard is dominated by the new MBUX Hyperscreen, measuring 99.3 cm (39.1 inches) across and running on the Mercedes-Benz Operating System. Digital Extras can be bought after delivery through the Mercedes-Benz Store or app, and the entertainment catalogue currently covers more than 40 apps.

Driver assistance

DISTRONIC adaptive cruise control with stop-and-go and MB.DRIVE PARKING ASSIST are standard. Optional MB.DRIVE packages add MB.DRIVE Assist, which combines DISTRONIC with a steering assistant for SAE Level 2 support and can help with lane changes outside built-up areas, plus MB.DRIVE PARKING ASSIST 360 with a 360-degree camera.

What it means

The C-Class has long been one of the brand’s biggest sellers, and the electric version lands in a segment where BMW’s i-badged saloons and Audi’s A-series EVs are fighting for the same buyers. A quoted 690 km of range and 320 kW charging put this version at the sharper end of the class on paper, and the arrival of a second 4MATIC model broadens the range ahead of the cheaper rear-wheel-drive variants still to be announced.
