Mercedes-AMG Motorsport and the Nürburgring have extended their existing partnership agreement, keeping the Affalterbach performance brand as the circuit’s Official Automotive Partner. The deal, first signed in 2017, secures branding at the Caracciola-Karussell, naming rights to the AMG Arena and AMG Tribüne, and the AMG VIP Lounge above the pit lane. It comes months after an overall win at the Nürburgring 24 Hours and a segment lap record for the CLA 45 4MATIC+.

Mercedes-AMG Motorsport will continue as the Official Automotive Partner of the Nürburgring after both sides agreed to extend their existing contract. The tie-up has been running since 2017, and the two brands point to a shared history at the circuit stretching back almost a century.

What the partnership includes

The extension keeps Mercedes-AMG visible in some of the most recognisable corners of the Eifel circuit. The centrepiece is a 20-metre advertising surface at the Caracciola-Karussell, the banked corner at kilometre 13 of the Nordschleife.

AMG also retains the naming rights to the AMG Arena and the AMG Tribüne grandstand on the Grand Prix layout, plus the AMG VIP Lounge above the pit lane overlooking the start-finish straight. Advertising spots on the ring°wall and selected joint communication activities round out the package. Neither party has stated how long the extended agreement runs.

A relationship built on racing

The link between the brand and the circuit predates the commercial deal by decades. According to Mercedes-Benz, the very first race held at the Nürburgring, in 1927, was won by Rudolf Caracciola in a Mercedes — the same driver the Karussell corner is named after.

The most recent chapter came in May this year, when Mercedes-AMG Team RAVENOL took overall victory in the ADAC RAVENOL 24h Nürburgring with Maro Engel (GER), Maxime Martin (BEL), Fabian Schiller and Luca Stolz (both GER) sharing the driving.

“Whether in motorsport or as a benchmark for our road cars, the Nürburgring has always had a special significance for the brand. It is the setting for numerous milestones, from historic race wins through to groundbreaking record laps. We have also been linked by an official partnership for ten years now, which underlines our emotional relationship with this unique circuit. We are delighted to be continuing this successful collaboration in the future.” — Simon Wilbers, Head of Mercedes-AMG Motorsport

The Nordschleife as a development tool

Beyond racing, the manufacturer describes the Nordschleife as central to the testing and development of its road cars, arguing that the demanding layout puts extreme demands on both driver and machine. Test programmes and record attempts are a regular part of the brand’s calendar there.

The latest of those came on 28 July, when the Mercedes-AMG CLA 45 4MATIC+ set a lap time of 7:32.070 minutes, which the company says makes it the fastest car in its segment. Mercedes quotes combined energy consumption of 18.7–16.5 kWh/100 km for the CLA 45 4MATIC+ saloon, with combined CO₂ emissions of 0 g/km and CO₂ class A, measured under WLTP.

What it means

Circuit partnerships of this kind are as much about development credibility as they are about signage. For AMG, keeping a permanent presence at the Nordschleife protects a marketing asset that rivals such as BMW M and Porsche also lean on heavily, and it ties the brand’s road-car performance claims to the track most often used to validate them.

For the Nürburgring, the extension secures a long-running commercial anchor. “Mercedes-AMG and the Nürburgring have been linked by a close partnership for many years,” said Christian Stephani, Managing Director of Nürburgring 1927 GmbH & Co. KG. “Both brands stand for emotion, performance and the highest standards. That is why we are very pleased to be continuing along this path together in the coming years as well.”
