Škoda has added a new range-topping Laurin & Klement trim to the Kodiaq, along with a stronger plug-in hybrid with a system output of 200 kW. That is 50 kW more than the current version. The additions come as the large SUV turns ten, with 1.2 million customers in 70 markets since its 2016 debut.
Škoda is marking ten years of the Kodiaq by adding to the range rather than replacing it. The update, announced in Mladá Boleslav on 22 October 2026, brings two things: a new top-of-the-line Laurin & Klement trim, and a more powerful version of the plug-in hybrid powertrain.
A stronger plug-in hybrid
The new plug-in hybrid has a combined system output of 200 kW. According to Škoda, that is 50 kW more than the plug-in hybrid currently sold in the Kodiaq.
The electric motor draws its energy from a traction battery with a gross capacity of 25.7 kWh, of which 19.7 kWh is usable. DC fast charging at up to 50 kW is supported, which the company says makes longer journeys easier.
Škoda has not yet published performance, electric range or efficiency figures for the 200 kW version. It says the powertrain is also available with the new Laurin & Klement trim.
Laurin & Klement becomes the flagship trim
The Laurin & Klement name honours Škoda’s founders, and the trim now sits at the top of the Kodiaq range. The manufacturer says it pairs a more elegant look with extra comfort.
On the outside, you can spot it by its silver roof rails, its body-coloured front and rear bumpers and side sills, and its own design of alloy wheels. Laurin & Klement badges appear both inside and outside the car.
Inside, Škoda points to massage seats as one of the main features. It mentions “numerous other features” as well but does not list them in this announcement.
Ten years of the Kodiaq
The Kodiaq first appeared in 2016 and has since become an important model for the Czech brand. Škoda says 1.2 million customers in 70 markets have chosen it. The large SUV, offered with up to seven seats, played a big part in moving Škoda into more profitable segments. The current second generation is offered with petrol, diesel, mild-hybrid and plug-in hybrid powertrains.
What it means
The higher output gives the Kodiaq plug-in hybrid a clear performance step over the existing version. The Laurin & Klement trim gives buyers a more premium option at the top of the range. Pricing and specifications for individual markets have not yet been announced.
