Renault has revealed the Rafale hypnotic, a numbered limited edition of its flagship SUV-coupé restricted to 1,500 cars for Europe. It builds on the top-spec hyper hybrid E-Tech 4×4 300 hp Atelier Alpine and adds satin forest black paint, gloss black detailing and a darker cabin. Orders open on 1 October 2026 in 14 European countries, with French prices starting at €63,550 and first deliveries due late in the year.
Renault has introduced a limited-edition version of its flagship Rafale, badged hypnotic, aimed at buyers who want the car’s most distinctive specification. Production is capped at 1,500 numbered examples for Europe, and the company positions it as the most assertive expression of the model so far.
A darker take on the flagship
The limited edition is based on the top-of-the-range Rafale hyper hybrid E-Tech 4×4 300 hp Atelier Alpine. The most obvious change is the finish: an exclusive satin forest black paint, backed by gloss black exterior detailing. Renault describes the look as a deliberately dark, sophisticated treatment intended to sharpen the car’s road presence.
The name, according to the manufacturer, is meant to reflect the car’s visual pull and the mix of sophistication, performance and desirability the design and engineering teams were aiming for.
Inside the cabin
The interior uses upholstery combining titanium black Alcantara with black textured coated fabric, with blue, white and red top-stitching and a backlit Alpine “A” logo. Front and rear door panels get gloss black inserts and the same tricolour stitching, and a titanium black Alcantara strip runs across the upper dashboard.
Renault says the limited edition also broadens the list of standard equipment compared with the regular range, though the release does not itemise the full specification in English.
Powertrain carried over unchanged
Mechanically, the hypnotic is the familiar Rafale hyper hybrid E-Tech 4×4 300 hp. The plug-in hybrid system pairs a combustion engine with three electric motors for a combined 300 hp, and Renault quotes up to 105 km (65 miles) of all-electric running.
The chassis, developed with engineers from Alpine Cars, combines four-wheel drive, 4Control Advanced four-wheel steering and self-adjusting adaptive suspension using a camera for predictive control. Renault claims that package is unique among full-line manufacturers.
Prices, markets and timing
Orders open on Thursday 1 October 2026 in 14 European markets: France, Germany, Spain, Italy, Switzerland, Bulgaria, Belgium, Austria, Poland, Romania, Hungary, Slovakia, the Czech Republic and Greece. In France the car is listed at €63,550, or €560 a month on a 37-month, 30,000 km lease with an initial payment of €5,500.
With only 1,500 cars for the whole of Europe, availability will depend on how many units each market is allocated. That puts the Rafale at the upper end of Renault’s own line-up and closer to premium-badged rivals in the coupé-SUV class, where limited runs are a common way to test how far a mainstream brand can push on price.
What it means
The hypnotic is a positioning exercise as much as a product: no extra power, but a visual and equipment upgrade used to establish a higher ceiling for the Rafale. Whether the formula works will depend on how quickly the 1,500 cars are spoken for.
The limited edition goes on display on the Renault stand in Hall 6 at the Paris Motor Show, held at Paris Porte de Versailles from 12 to 18 October 2026, with first deliveries following in late 2026.
