Lexus is opening sales of its LY680 luxury yacht beyond Japan, using the 2026 Fort Lauderdale International Boat Show in Florida as the launch platform. The 20.63-metre vessel is a stretched evolution of the LY650, the brand’s first yacht, with a longer flybridge and a bigger swimming platform. It is the clearest sign yet of what Lexus calls a 360-degree approach to mobility, extending the badge well past the road.
Lexus is widening sales of the LY680 luxury yacht to global markets, after launching the boat in Japan in 2024 and giving it an official world debut in March this year. The expansion will be marked by an appearance at the 2026 Fort Lauderdale International Boat Show in Florida, USA, which runs from 28 October to 1 November.
The brand is framing the boat under the theme “Discover Escapism”, describing it as a private sanctuary on the open sea rather than simply another product line. In practice, it is a deliberate attempt to carry a car brand’s design and service culture onto the water, in a segment dominated by long-established specialist builders.
Longer than the LY650 it evolves from
The LY680 is an evolution of the LY650, Lexus’ first luxury yacht. The flybridge is roughly 1,400 mm (55 in) longer than before, and the swimming platform has been extended by 700 mm (27.6 in). Those changes take the vessel’s overall length to 20.63 m (67.7 ft).
Lexus has not detailed engines, performance, capacity or pricing in this announcement, so the LY680’s specification sheet beyond those dimensions remains unconfirmed.
Mobility beyond the road
According to the company, mobility is not limited to travel over land, and it wants to create spaces where owners can be themselves whatever form the journey takes. That thinking was set out publicly by Simon Humphries, Chief Branding Officer, speaking at the Japan Mobility Show 2025.
“not just about creating cars” — extending the vision beyond the land to sea and air — “in other words, 360 degrees of mobility”
What it means
A yacht will never be a volume business for Lexus, but it is a useful halo. Luxury car makers have been broadening into lifestyle and experience products for years, and a boat shown at one of the largest in-water shows in the world puts the badge in front of exactly the customer base Lexus wants for its flagship cars. Fort Lauderdale also places the LY680 in the United States, a core market for the brand’s most expensive models.
