Renault Group and SUEZ joint venture The Future is NEUTRAL will use Automechanika in Frankfurt, from 8 to 12 September 2026, to show how far the circular automotive economy has moved from theory to industry. The headline news is a remanufactured version of the 6AM electric traction motor used in the Renault Megane, Scenic and Master, offered at around 30 percent below the price of a new unit. The company will also publish life cycle assessments carried out with consultancy Quantis that put numbers on the environmental gains from remanufacturing.
The Future is NEUTRAL, a subsidiary of Renault Group and SUEZ, will present its circular economy model and a set of new products at Automechanika in Frankfurt from 8 to 12 September 2026. The company describes itself as the only European player covering the whole automotive circular value chain, from collecting end-of-life vehicles through parts reuse, remanufacturing, battery reconditioning and materials recycling. It will exhibit alongside its subsidiaries THE REMAKERS, GAIA and INDRA Automobile Recycling, plus partner OPISTO.
A remanufactured electric motor for Megane, Scenic and Master
The main launch comes from THE REMAKERS, which will unveil an industrial remanufacturing offer for the 6AM electric traction motor fitted to the Renault Megane, Scenic and Master. The company calls it a European first. According to the manufacturer, the remanufactured motors return to the market with performance and reliability equivalent to new, at a cost roughly 30 percent lower and with a reduced environmental footprint. The 6AM joins the 5A motor and the Power Electronic Controller in an EV remanufacturing range that THE REMAKERS says is the first of its kind in Europe.
What the life cycle assessments found
The Future is NEUTRAL will also release new life cycle assessments commissioned by THE REMAKERS and carried out with consultancy Quantis. The company says the work followed ISO standards and was put through an independent external critical review. Eight representative families of remanufactured components were assessed against five indicators: climate change, resource use for minerals and metals, acidification, freshwater eutrophication and photochemical ozone formation.
Electric vehicle components came out best. Remanufactured electric motors cut environmental impact by at least 67 percent across every one of the five indicators, while remanufactured power electronics for EVs cut it by at least 47 percent. The company attributes that to high reuse rates for materials with a heavy environmental footprint, notably copper and electronic components. Combustion engines and manual and hybrid transmissions also showed reductions across all categories studied.

Batteries, dismantling and used parts
GAIA will focus on traction battery repair, diagnosing packs so they can stay in a vehicle, move to a second life or go to recycling, and will offer carmakers and suppliers solutions for dormant or damaged parts from production. INDRA Automobile Recycling, which processes more than 330,000 end-of-life vehicles a year through a network of nearly 235 licensed dismantling centres, will present its “Valeur 2030” plan and an eco-design service that it says allows recyclability rates above 85 percent and recovery rates above 95 percent.
OPISTO, in which INDRA is the principal shareholder, makes its first appearance at the German show. It will present its Opisto.com marketplace, listing several million traced, inspected and guaranteed used parts at prices it puts at 70 percent below new on average, along with software for end-of-life vehicle treatment centres.
Why it matters
Around 8 million vehicles reach the end of their life in Europe each year, a stock The Future is NEUTRAL frames as an urban mine that can reduce demand for virgin raw materials. Independently verified impact figures also give insurers and fleet operators data they can use in repair policy and in circular economy reporting under the Corporate Sustainability Reporting Directive.
