Skoda Auto has revealed a facelifted version of the Slavia, the India-built saloon that sits alongside the Kylaq and Kushaq SUVs in the brand’s local line-up. The update brings new LED lighting front and rear, an eight-speed automatic gearbox for the 1.0 TSI engine and a rear seat massage function that the company describes as a first in the segment. Skoda says nearly 80,000 Slavias have been sold since launch, and the car is exported to markets including Vietnam, the Middle East and Africa.

Skoda Auto has taken the wraps off an updated version of the Slavia, the compact saloon built in India on the locally developed MQB-A0-IN platform. The car was presented in Mumbai on 18 August 2026, and according to the manufacturer it ranks among the best sellers in its segment, with close to 80,000 units delivered to date.

New lighting and a reworked look

The most visible changes are at either end of the car. Skoda has fitted new LED headlamps and redesigned LED taillamps, part of what the company calls a refreshed look and a more dynamic design language. The rest of the update focuses on equipment and drivetrain rather than sheet metal.

The Monte Carlo trim is offered from launch. It brings dual-tone paintwork, black exterior accents and Monte Carlo badging, with styling details that the company links to Skoda’s rally history.

An eight-speed automatic for the 1.0 TSI

On the technical side, the headline change is a new eight-speed automatic transmission for the 1.0 TSI petrol engine. Skoda refers to new powertrain options in the plural, but the release does not spell out the full engine range, outputs or performance figures for the updated car.

Massage seats and an AI assistant

Inside, Skoda highlights a rear seat massage function, which the company describes as a segment first. The cabin also gains a new-generation infotainment system with an AI Companion built on Google Cloud’s Automotive AI Agent, aimed at improving connectivity and voice interaction.

What it means

The Slavia is one of three locally developed models in Skoda’s ‘made in India, for India’ portfolio, together with the Kylaq and Kushaq SUVs. That matters beyond India itself: the saloon is exported to growth markets including Vietnam, the Middle East and Africa, and Skoda points to India as a second strong pillar for the brand outside Europe.

In a segment where buyers have steadily migrated towards compact SUVs, adding comfort features usually reserved for larger and pricier cars is a straightforward way to keep a traditional three-box saloon competitive.
