Škoda is adding to its long-running Simply Clever features with a set of free 3D-printable accessories. Owners can download the files from Printables.com and print the parts at home. The range includes cupholders, storage boxes and phone brackets, and it covers both current and discontinued Škoda models.
Simply Clever moves into the home workshop
Škoda has built much of its identity on Simply Clever, its name for small practical touches that make a car easier to live with day to day. The Czech manufacturer is now offering some of these ideas as downloadable files instead of factory-fitted parts.
Škoda has set up a profile on Printables.com, which it describes as the world’s largest platform of its kind. Users can download a growing range of accessories there free of charge. They can adapt the files to their own needs and print the parts on their own 3D printer. Škoda says the aim is to make its vehicles even more practical in everyday use.
What owners can print
The first batch covers small but useful items for the cabin. According to the company, the selection includes:
- cupholders
- storage boxes
- cable management tools
- coin boxes
- hooks for USB cables and caps that attach to seat-back pockets
- phone brackets
- top tether hooks
Škoda says the accessories are designed to work across several of its models. The range covers current cars as well as models that have already gone out of production.
Who designed them
The parts were developed by Škoda’s innovation incubator together with its design and engineering teams. The manufacturer says this approach lets it offer new solutions without the lead times, tooling and inventory that conventional production requires.
What it means
For owners, this is a low-cost way to add small practical touches. That matters most for older cars, where official accessories are often harder to find. For Škoda, it is a cheap way to keep the Simply Clever idea alive without the cost of producing and stocking physical parts. Because users can change the files, the community may also be able to adapt the designs to suit specific needs.
Škoda has not said which models each accessory fits, so owners should check the details for each file on Printables before printing.
The files are available now, free of charge, on Škoda’s Printables.com profile.
