Mercedes-Benz has teamed up with Berlin bag label VEE Collective on an exclusive collaboration, headlined by a limited “Porter Tote – Sylt Edition”. The tote is being shown at the Mercedes-Benz summer residence in Kampen from 4 July to 30 August and sold online. It is the opening move in a wider partnership that will later include a weekender bag shaped to fit the frunk of electric Mercedes models, among them the new GLC.
Mercedes-Benz has stepped outside the showroom for a lifestyle tie-up with VEE Collective, the Berlin bag label founded in 2017. The centrepiece is a limited-edition “Porter Tote – Sylt Edition”, launched during the brand’s summer residence on the North Sea island of Sylt.
A tote built around beach-to-city life
The company positions the Porter Tote as an everyday companion — for days by the sea, spontaneous trips or the move from beach to town. It is made from recycled, hard-wearing material, with clean lines, a calm sand colourway and functional detailing. According to the two brands, the design leans on restraint rather than logos, pairing lightness with practicality.
Mercedes-Benz frames the collaboration as a meeting of two design cultures. “Two brands that consistently combine design, functionality and attitude come together here in an ideal way,” says Kerstin Stenkat, head of marketing communications at Mercedes-Benz Cars Sales Germany, tying the project to the maker’s “140 Years of Innovation” anniversary theme.
“Mercedes-Benz and VEE Collective are connected by far more than just a passion for design: both brands stand for quality, longevity and products that accompany people for many years,” says Lili Radu, founder of VEE Collective.
Radu is due to appear in person at the Kampen residence on 8 August.
More pieces to follow, including a frunk weekender
The Sylt tote is only the opener. Under the brand’s She’s Mercedes initiative, the partners plan a limited run of the “Porter Basque” shopper in an exclusive beige tone at the end of July. VEE Collective is also developing a weekender bag optimised for the front trunk, or frunk, of fully electric Mercedes-Benz models — including the new GLC — which the company says will be shown in the autumn.
What it means
Branded accessories are familiar territory for premium carmakers, but the frunk-specific weekender is the detail worth watching: it points to how brands are trying to make the extra storage of electric models feel like a lifestyle feature rather than a spec-sheet line. For now, the collaboration is a small, seasonal statement rather than a product-heavy launch.
The limited “VEE Collective x Mercedes-Benz Sylt Edition” is available from 4 July to 30 August at the Mercedes-Benz summer residence in Kampen and online at mercedes-benz-vee-collective.de.
