BMW Motorrad has invested in Venna, a young company that builds high-performance electric motorcycles. The deal gives the Munich-based motorcycle division a way into the fast-growing electric off-road segment. Venna will stay independent under the agreement. BMW Motorrad has not said how much it is investing.

BMW Motorrad has taken a financial stake in Venna, a start-up that develops high-performance electric motorcycles. BMW Motorrad describes the move as a strategic partnership. It is aimed at electric off-road motorcycles, a market the company calls dynamically growing. BMW Motorrad has not given the size of the investment or the stake it now holds.

Start-up speed meets industrial scale

According to BMW Motorrad, the partnership pairs a young technology company’s agility and innovation with BMW Motorrad’s experience in development and industrialisation. The two companies will combine their expertise in selected areas, though they have not said which ones.

Venna will remain independent and keep what the companies call its high pace of innovation. It will also be able to draw on BMW Motorrad’s industrial experience and global reach. For a start-up, that kind of support can make the move from prototype to series production much easier.

Chasing a younger audience

BMW Motorrad links the deal to a change in how people see motorcycling. The company says younger riders increasingly see it as a sporty, performance-driven leisure activity. According to BMW Motorrad, the partnership gives it access to new target groups and technologies in the electric off-road segment.

“BMW Motorrad stands for innovation, performance and the courage to explore new paths. With Venna, we have found a partner who shares our passion for technical excellence and exceptional riding experiences. This partnership opens opportunities for us in a new segment and helps us inspire new target groups with the fascination of motorcycling.” — Markus Flasch, CEO BMW Motorrad

Venna’s chief executive said the investment backs the company’s technical direction and should speed up its progress.

“At Venna, our ambition is to build high-performance electric motorcycles across all riding categories that will unlock new levels and possibilities to our riders. BMW Motorrad’s investment is a huge seal of approval to our passion and our technological approach. This partnership supercharges our ability to deliver advanced technology, reliable industrialization, and to do it fast.” — Marko Ukota, CEO Venna

What it means

BMW Motorrad already sells electric two-wheelers, but they are urban scooters such as the CE 04 rather than off-road machines. Buying into a specialist lets the company enter the off-road segment without building a dirt-focused electric motorcycle entirely on its own. Electric off-road bikes are one of the more active corners of the motorcycle market, with dedicated brands as well as established manufacturers competing for riders.

According to BMW Motorrad, the investment shows its ambition to help shape future technologies. It says the partnership lays the foundation for long-term growth in electric off-road motorcycles. For scale, the BMW Group says it sold more than 202,500 motorcycles worldwide in 2025.

No products, timelines or prices from the partnership have been announced yet.
