Nissan has announced a change at the top of its investor relations function, effective 1 October 2026. Kazuta Amemiya, currently vice president for Monozukuri, R&D and Capex Control, takes on the role alongside his existing duties, reporting to chief financial officer George Leondis. He replaces Julian Krell, who is leaving the carmaker at the end of December to pursue opportunities outside the company.

Nissan Motor Co., Ltd. has confirmed a set of senior management changes that take effect on 1 October 2026, centred on the team that handles the carmaker’s dialogue with investors, analysts and rating agencies.

Julian Krell leaves at the end of the year

Julian Krell, vice president of Investor Relations, has chosen to leave Nissan for opportunities elsewhere, with his departure taking effect on 31 December 2026. According to the company, Krell played an important part in strengthening Nissan’s engagement with investors, analysts and rating agencies during his time in the role, and Nissan says it appreciates his contributions.

Rather than stepping away immediately, Krell moves into an advisory position. From 1 October 2026 he serves as Investor Relations Advisor to the CFO, a role intended to hand over responsibilities gradually before he leaves.

Amemiya adds the role to his current duties

Kazuta Amemiya, currently vice president for Monozukuri, R&D and Capex Control, becomes Head of Investor Relations from the same date. This is a concurrent appointment: he keeps his existing responsibilities and adds leadership of the investor relations function on top of them, taking over contact with investors, analysts and other stakeholders.

Nissan points to his finance background and to the leadership positions he has held across the company, which include a previous spell in investor relations. He reports directly to chief financial officer George Leondis.

The two will work alongside each other through to December 2026 to keep contact with stakeholders uninterrupted during the changeover.

What the CFO says

“I would like to thank Julian for his leadership and valuable contributions to Nissan. He has played an important role in strengthening our engagement with investors and the financial community, and we wish him every success in his future endeavors. I am pleased to welcome Kazuta to this role. His extensive finance experience, prior Investor Relations background and deep understanding of Nissan position him well to lead the function and support our continued commitment to transparent and constructive dialogue with stakeholders,” said George Leondis, Chief Financial Officer.

Why the role matters

Investor relations is the channel through which a listed carmaker explains its numbers, its product plans and its strategy to the financial community — the shareholders, analysts and rating agencies named in Nissan’s own announcement. Changes at the head of that function tend to be watched closely, because it is the function that sets the tone of how a manufacturer’s results and outlook are presented and understood.

Nissan has not given a reason for Krell’s move beyond his decision to pursue opportunities outside the company, and the announcement does not mention any other organisational changes.

The appointments take effect on 1 October 2026, with Krell remaining with Nissan in an advisory capacity until 31 December 2026.
