Renault has named Jean-Pierre Diernaz Vice President Renault Brand Global Marketing and Chief Branding Officer for all brands, with effect from 14 September 2026. He joins the Renault Brand Management Committee and reports to Fabrice Cambolive, CEO of the Renault brand and Chief Growth Officer of Renault Group. The French carmaker says the move is part of a wider push to rebuild its marketing around data, customer insight and artificial intelligence under the futuREady plan.
Renault has confirmed a new marketing chief. Jean-Pierre Diernaz takes over as Vice President Renault Brand Global Marketing and, at the same time, becomes Chief Branding Officer for all of the group’s brands. Both roles start on 14 September 2026.
In the new job he sits on the Renault Brand Management Committee and reports directly to Fabrice Cambolive, CEO Renault Brand and Chief Growth Officer of Renault Group.
Two mandates in a single appointment
As global marketing boss for the Renault brand, Diernaz will run all of the brand’s marketing activity. According to the company, his brief is to strengthen brand preference, speed up the transformation of Renault’s marketing and feed directly into the group’s growth. Renault says the ambition is a more digital operating model built around customer insight, data, artificial intelligence and performance management, bringing brand, customer experience and commercial performance closer together.
The manufacturer adds that his international background should help sustain the momentum already under way in Europe around electrification, and support the brand’s position in key markets outside it.
The second title is broader. As Chief Branding Officer for all brands, Diernaz is tasked with developing the value and complementarity of Renault Group’s brand portfolio — keeping the way the brands express themselves consistent, while sharpening what separates Renault, Dacia and Alpine from one another.
Tied to the futuREady plan
Renault frames the appointment as part of the roll-out of futuREady, the plan the group says sets its growth and competitiveness trajectory after the Renaulution phase. The company describes its approach to electrification as resting on two pillars, 100 percent hybrid and 100 percent electric.
“Jean-Pierre Diernaz is joining Renault at a pivotal moment. Over the past few years, we have embarked on a profound transformation, and our ambition is now to go even further: harnessing the power of the brand, customer insights and new technologies to deliver stronger and more sustainable growth,” says Fabrice Cambolive, CEO Renault Brand and Chief Growth Officer of Renault Group.
A career from Ford to General Motors
Diernaz brings more than 25 years in the car industry. He started at Ford in France and internationally before joining Nissan in 2005 as Advertising Director Europe. Several senior European roles followed, including work for Infiniti and for the electric vehicle business, before he became Vice President, Marketing & Digital Europe.
In 2019 he moved to MotorK as Chief Strategy Officer, working on automotive digital transformation. He joined General Motors Europe in 2024 as Chief Marketing Officer and was later appointed President and Managing Director there, while continuing as Chief Marketing Officer Europe.
What it means
Marketing appointments rarely make headlines on their own, but the scope here is unusually wide: one executive now owns both Renault’s own marketing and the positioning of three very different brands sitting side by side in showrooms. Dacia trades on value, Alpine on performance and Renault on mainstream electrified models, and keeping those stories distinct matters as the group pushes hybrid and electric cars in Europe while trying to grow elsewhere.
Diernaz takes up both roles on 14 September 2026.
