Volvo Cars has invited media, investors and analysts to a Strategy Update on 17 September, where its Executive Management Team will set out where the company stands and where it is heading. The session runs from 09:00 to 12:00 CEST, will be livestreamed in English and closes with a Q&A. It comes as the Swedish brand continues to balance its long-stated electric ambitions against a market that has cooled on rapid EV adoption.

Volvo Cars is gathering media, investors and analysts on 17 September for what it calls its Strategy Update 2026. Members of the Executive Management Team will present updates on the company’s strategy and on how it is executing that strategy, according to the invitation.

How to follow the event

The presentation will be livestreamed between 09:00 and 12:00 CEST and held in English, followed by a question-and-answer session. Volvo Cars says the webcast and the accompanying presentation material will be published on its Investor Relations website once the event has finished.

The company has not said in advance which topics will be covered, so the substance of the update — product plans, financial targets, electrification timing — will only become clear on the day.

Why this one matters

Strategy days are where carmakers set the numbers they will be judged on, and Volvo Cars has more moving parts than most. The company is listed on Nasdaq Stockholm under the ticker “VOLCAR B”, which means its targets are scrutinised quarter by quarter, and it has tied its identity closely to going fully electric.

That ambition sits alongside a purpose the company states as: “For life. To provide freedom to move in a personal, sustainable and safe way.” Volvo Cars also maintains an ambition to reach net-zero greenhouse gas emissions by 2040, with an ongoing reduction of its carbon footprint along the way.

The most recent figures the company provides give a sense of the base it is working from. In 2025, Volvo Cars sold more than 710,000 cars, with an electrified share of 46 per cent — meaning a little under half its volume was already electrified, and the rest was not.

The company behind the update

Founded in 1927, Volvo Cars sells to customers in more than 100 countries and employed an average of 42,600 full-time staff. Its head office, product development, marketing and administration sit mainly in Gothenburg, Sweden, with production plants in Gothenburg, Ghent in Belgium, South Carolina in the United States, and Chengdu, Daqing and Taizhou in China. Research and design centres are located in Gothenburg and Shanghai.

That spread — European, American and Chinese manufacturing — puts the company directly in the path of the tariff and trade questions now shaping where cars are built for which market, another reason the update is worth watching.

The Strategy Update 2026 takes place on 17 September, with the livestream running 09:00–12:00 CEST.
