The Landespresseball Baden-Württemberg moves to the Mercedes-Benz Museum in Stuttgart for the first time, with the 2026 edition set for 13 November. Advance tickets went on sale on 31 July 2026. The black-tie evening leaves the Liederhalle after 63 years, and its proceeds again go to the Baden-Württemberg Press Foundation.
The Landespresseball Baden-Württemberg — the state press ball — will be staged at the Mercedes-Benz Museum in Stuttgart for the first time. Mercedes-Benz says the 2026 edition takes place on 13 November, with advance ticket sales opening on 31 July 2026.
A new venue after 63 years in the Liederhalle
The event had been held at Stuttgart’s Liederhalle for 63 years. According to the organisers, the move to the museum marks a new chapter and a deliberate signal of change and further development for an evening with a long social tradition.
The format itself is not being reinvented. Mercedes-Benz describes the new setting as combining that tradition with a festive atmosphere and a more contemporary staging, while the character of the night stays the same: a formal ball and a meeting point for figures from politics, media, business and wider society, with music, dancing, entertainment and catering.
Where the money goes
As before, the ball doubles as a charity gala. Proceeds go to the Pressestiftung Baden-Württemberg, the state’s press foundation, which the organisers say underlines the importance of press freedom and supports independent information and democratic participation.
The foundation is backed by three bodies: the Landespressekonferenz Baden-Württemberg, the Baden-Württemberg branch of the German Journalists’ Association (Deutscher Journalisten-Verband) and the Verband Südwestdeutscher Zeitungsverleger, the region’s newspaper publishers’ association.
Tickets and practical details
Tickets have been available since 31 July 2026 online at www.landespresseball-bw.de and www.swrticketservice.de/kontakt, and by phone through the Landespresseball organising office on 07142 770 69 29 or the SWR hotline on 07221 929 213 21. The release does not state ticket prices.
The Mercedes-Benz Museum itself remains open to visitors on its normal schedule, Tuesday to Sunday from 9:00 to 18:00, with the ticket desk closing at 17:00. Bookings and information are handled on +49 711 17-30000, by e-mail at [email protected], or via www.mercedes-benz.com/museum.
What it means
For Mercedes-Benz, the booking puts one of the region’s best-known social events inside a building the company uses as a showcase for its own history — a low-key but visible piece of brand positioning in its home city. It also lands in the middle of the company’s “140 Years of Innovation” anniversary year, marking the 140 years since Carl Benz filed the patent for the first automobile in 1886 and Gottlieb Daimler built his motorised carriage shortly afterwards.
For the ball, the change is more practical: a museum with a large atrium and spiral exhibition ramps offers a different kind of evening from a purpose-built concert hall, and gives the organisers a reason to refresh a fixture that had settled into one address for more than six decades.
