Mercedes-AMG has opened orders for a run-out “Final Edition” of the A 45 S 4MATIC+, its compact super-hatch. The special model bundles a distinctive styling package inside and out, from MANUFAKTUR paint and matte-black forged wheels to yellow accents and optional “45 S” door graphics. The mechanicals are unchanged: the hand-built 421 hp M139 four-cylinder turbo carries over, marking the end of the road for one of the segment’s most extreme hot hatches.
Mercedes-AMG is giving its A 45 S 4MATIC+ a farewell send-off. The maker has confirmed that a special “Final Edition” of the compact performance car is available to order now, wrapping the model in an exclusive appearance package while keeping its powertrain untouched.
According to the company, the extra equipment adds between €6,074.95 and €10,091.20 including VAT to the price in Germany (from €5,105.00 to €8,480.00 excluding VAT), depending on how it is specified. The top figure applies with the AMG Aerodynamics package and the large “45 S” door lettering, plus delivery costs.
A styling package inside and out
The Final Edition is offered in either MANUFAKTUR mountain grey magno or night black paint, paired with Dark Chrome door handles. It rides on matte-black 19-inch AMG cross-spoke forged wheels with edition-specific hub caps carrying a yellow AMG logo. The high-performance brake calipers are finished in gloss black with white “AMG” script, and even the fuel cap gets a silver-chrome treatment with its own detailing.
Buyers can option a foil wrap on the front doors with an oversized “45 S” motif in yellow and black, along with an AMG diamond pattern on the mirror caps and further yellow accents. The package also includes the AMG Night package and Night package II, which add gloss-black and Dark Chrome trim elements around the body.
More aggressive with the aero pack
An optional AMG Aerodynamics package gives the car a more track-focused look. Developed in the wind tunnel, it adds a front apron with an enlarged splitter and additional gloss-black flics, plus side flow edges around the rear apron. Mercedes-AMG says the parts also improve high-speed stability.
Yellow accents in the cabin
Inside, the AMG Performance seats are trimmed in black ARTICO man-made leather and MICROCUT microfibre with yellow contrast stitching and embroidered “45 S” emblems in the front headrests. A “45 S Final Edition” badge sits on the centre console, joined by an AMG Performance steering wheel with yellow stitching, aluminium trim with the AMG pattern, illuminated door sills and yellow-accented floor mats.
The hardware stays the same
Mechanically, nothing changes. The 2.0-litre four-cylinder turbo — assembled in Affalterbach under the “One Man, One Engine” principle — produces 310 kW (421 hp) and 500 Nm (369 lb-ft). Mercedes-AMG describes the M139 as the world’s most powerful series-produced four-cylinder turbo. Drive goes through an eight-speed AMG SPEEDSHIFT DCT dual-clutch gearbox and the fully variable AMG Performance 4MATIC+ all-wheel-drive system with AMG Torque Control.
The result is 0–100 km/h (0–62 mph) in 3.9 seconds and a top speed electronically limited to 270 km/h (168 mph). WLTP fuel consumption is quoted at 9.2–9.0 l/100 km with CO₂ emissions of 209–205 g/km.
What it means
As the name suggests, the Final Edition signals the run-out of the current A 45 S, a car that helped define the modern mega-hatch class. For enthusiasts, it is a last chance to order the outgoing model in its most decorated form. The special edition is available to order now.
