Nissan Formula E Team will open The NISMO Pit, a one-night pop-up event, during its home round in Japan on Saturday 25 July. The fan experience leans on Japan’s 1990s street-car culture and is styled by Tokyo designer Kenichi Minami, with heritage models, modified road cars and the team’s GEN3 Evo racer in a special NISMO livery on display.

Nissan is using its home round of the ABB FIA Formula E World Championship to stage a fan event built around Japan’s car culture. As Formula E returns to Japan for a third straight season, Nissan Formula E Team says it will launch The NISMO Pit, a one-night pop-up, during the Tokyo E-Prix on Saturday 25 July.

A nod to Japan’s 1990s street scene

The team describes the event as a tribute to the country’s 1990s street-car era, when enthusiasts gathered around modified cars and shared a passion for performance. According to Nissan, The NISMO Pit aims to revive that atmosphere for a new generation, combining the brand’s motorsport heritage with the look and feel of those late-night meet-ups.

Visitors will be able to see cars from Nissan’s Heritage Collection alongside classic diner-style food and live DJ sets. Working with Tokyo car network NowhereToGo, the event will also show a selection of modified Nissan road cars.

A one-off NISMO livery

The current Nissan Formula E GEN3 Evo car will be on display in a special one-off livery created for the home weekend. The company says the design mirrors the colour palette of its NISMO road cars, pairing grey and black with NISMO’s red accents while keeping the team’s cherry blossom motif.

To shape the look of the event, the team collaborated with designer Kenichi Minami, whose nostalgic, Japanese-rooted artwork has built an international following.

“It was a real honor to be involved in this project with Nissan Formula E Team. The thing that excited me the most was thinking about how to turn the speed and futuristic feeling of Formula E and NISMO’s culture into a logo and graphic identity. The red rear lights of the Nissan Formula E car and the image of light stretching horizontally became a major cue. I felt that this direction matched the sense of speed and electric atmosphere Formula E delivers. I’m sure it’s going to be an unforgettable event in Tokyo and I’m proud to be a part of it,” Minami said.

Timing and race weekend

The NISMO Pit opens at City Circuit Tokyo Bay from 18:00 (UTC+9) on Saturday 25 July, with fans able to watch Round 14 on screens across the venue as the Tokyo E-Prix starts at 20:00. It stays open until 23:00, welcoming visitors and fans returning from the circuit.

Nissan’s Formula E record

Nissan was the first Japanese manufacturer to enter Formula E, debuting in Season 5 (2018/19). It took full ownership of the e.dams team in April 2022, and in March 2024 became the first manufacturer to commit to the GEN4 era, which runs to 2030. In Season 11 (2024/25), Oliver Rowland gave the team the Drivers’ World Championship with two races to spare. For the 2025/26 season, Rowland lines up alongside Norman Nato.

The event runs for one night only, on 25 July at City Circuit Tokyo Bay.
