Nissan Formula E Team closed out its home Tokyo weekend with both cars in the points, as Oliver Rowland took fourth and Norman Nato sixth in Round 15 of the 2025/26 season. The result was a firm bounce-back from a difficult Saturday and keeps Rowland in the hunt for the drivers’ title. With one round left, he heads to the London finale just 14 points off the championship lead.

Nissan Formula E Team turned its home race into a recovery mission and came away rewarded. In Round 15 of the 2025/26 ABB FIA Formula E World Championship in Tokyo, Oliver Rowland finished fourth and Norman Nato sixth, giving the Japanese manufacturer a double points haul on Sunday after a tougher Saturday.

An overnight turnaround

The team says its crew worked through the night to improve both cars after Saturday’s race. That effort came with a catch: Free Practice 3 was cancelled because of bad weather, so there was no chance to check the changes before the session that mattered. Going straight into qualifying on a shifting track, both drivers still reached the Duels, with Nato lining up sixth and Rowland eighth.

A drying track and a clever race

The second E-Prix of the weekend began on a wet circuit and behind the Safety Car. Once racing got underway, Rowland used his early Attack Mode to climb the order and, as the track dried, moved into the podium places. According to the team, the Brit led for a handful of laps before carefully managing his energy in the closing stages. A late red flag set up a final-lap sprint, and Rowland held off the cars behind to secure fourth.

Nato’s afternoon was harder work. The Frenchman struggled for grip early and slipped back, but as conditions improved he saved his final Attack Mode for a late surge, gaining seven positions in six minutes to cross the line sixth.

“In these conditions, every decision counts, and the team did a great job to put both cars in the points,” said Tommaso Volpe, managing director and team principal. “We head to the season finale in London with Oli still firmly in the fight for the Drivers’ Championship, just 14 points off the lead.”

Rowland echoed the mood. “The changes the team made overnight definitely paid off… being only 14 points from the championship lead heading into London gives us plenty to fight for,” he said, adding that several drivers remain in contention.

For Nato, it was a rare clean run. “I’m happy to finally have a clean race and score good points for the team, especially here at our home event,” he said.

What it means

The points move Nissan to sixth in the Teams’ standings (151 points) and fifth among manufacturers (178 points). More significantly for the title picture, Rowland sits fourth in the drivers’ table on 132 points and stays within striking distance of the lead. Nato is 19th on 19 points.

Formula E now heads to London for the Season 12 finale on 14-16 August, the last double-header of the GEN3 era.
