Škoda Auto has produced the one-millionth example of its Karoq compact SUV at the Kvasiny plant in the Czech Republic. The milestone car is a Karoq 1.5 TSI with 110 kW (150 hp), finished in Graphite Grey. Launched in 2017, the Karoq has grown into one of the brand’s key global models, with a successor due at the turn of 2027 and 2028.

Škoda Auto has reached a production milestone with its compact Karoq SUV, building the one-millionth example at its Kvasiny plant. According to the manufacturer, the landmark vehicle is a Karoq 1.5 TSI with 110 kW (150 hp), painted in Graphite Grey.

A steady seller since 2017

The Karoq has been built at Kvasiny since it debuted in 2017. The company says the model quickly found favour with buyers and picked up industry recognition along the way, including a Red Dot Award in the Product Design category. Škoda points to the SUV’s spacious interior, generous standard equipment and the choice of front- or all-wheel drive as reasons for its broad appeal.

Reaching a million units underlines how important the Karoq has become to Škoda’s line-up. Positioned in the busy compact SUV segment, it competes with cars such as the Volkswagen Tiguan, Seat Ateca, Nissan Qashqai and Kia Sportage — one of the most fiercely contested classes in Europe.

Kvasiny’s growing output

The Karoq accounts for a significant share of production at Kvasiny, which also builds the Octavia and the Kodiaq and has an annual capacity of more than 300,000 vehicles. In 2025, after Kodiaq production was expanded to both assembly lines and the Octavia was added to the programme, the plant set a new record by building 301,500 Škoda vehicles, according to the company.

What it means

The milestone arrives as the current Karoq nears the end of its life. Škoda says the model’s successor is set to be unveiled at the turn of 2027 and 2028, so the one-millionth car marks a high point for the outgoing generation rather than a fresh launch. For buyers, it signals continuity in a segment where the Karoq has been a dependable, practical option.
