Students at the Škoda Vocational School have started building the eleventh Škoda Student Car, a one-off that will honour 100 years of vocational education at the Czech carmaker. For the first time the project runs across two academic years, and the finished car is due to be revealed in summer 2027. It follows last year’s Škoda L&K 130, which marked 130 years of the brand.

Škoda’s apprentices are back at the drawing board. The company says students at its Vocational School in Mladá Boleslav have begun preparations for the eleventh Škoda Student Car, a unique vehicle that this time celebrates 100 years of vocational education at Škoda Auto.

A longer build for an anniversary

Unlike the ten Student Cars before it, this edition is being developed over two academic years rather than one. According to the manufacturer, the extended timeline reflects the weight of the anniversary theme and gives the team more room to develop the concept, plan the modifications and prepare the construction work. The car will be unveiled at the end of the 2026/2027 academic year.

The project began in the 2013/14 academic year and has become the vocational school’s most visible showcase. Each car is based on the students’ own ideas, and the previous edition — the tenth, called the Škoda L&K 130 — celebrated 130 years of Škoda Auto in 2025 while nodding to the brand’s cycling roots.

From idea to a one-off car

Škoda says the project brings together students from different fields and departments, letting them put what they have learned into practice. Working alongside teachers, vocational instructors and Škoda Auto specialists, they develop technical solutions and present their ideas in a way meant to mirror a real automotive development programme, from the first sketch to a finished vehicle.

“Since the launch of the project, we have developed and elevated the Škoda Student Cars far beyond the original idea. It has long been about much more than modifying a car – the students create a complete concept for a new vehicle. That is where I see the project’s enormous value: the students work on it alongside teachers and vocational training instructors, as well as colleagues from Škoda Auto, who provide advice, parts and vehicles.”

Martin Slabihoudek, Head of the Škoda Auto Vocational School, said in the release.

A century of training talent

The theme has deep roots at the company. Škoda opened its own vocational school in Mladá Boleslav in 1927, and it operates today under the Škoda Academy. The manufacturer says it has since trained generations of young talent, making vocational education a fixed part of how the business has developed.

Škoda has not yet revealed which base model the eleventh Student Car will use or what form it will take. Those details, and the full concept, are due when the car is presented in summer 2027.
