Trainees at the Škoda Vocational School have started building the eleventh Škoda Student Car, this time dedicated to 100 years of vocational education at the company. Unlike earlier one-off projects, the car is being developed over two years and will be revealed at the end of the 2026/2027 academic year. It follows the L&K 130, which marked 130 years of Škoda Auto.

Škoda Auto has confirmed that students at its Vocational School in Mladá Boleslav have begun preparations for the eleventh Škoda Student Car. According to the company, the project this time honours 100 years of vocational education at Škoda Auto, building on a tradition that has become one of the school’s flagship undertakings.

A tribute to 100 years of training

The previous Student Car, the Škoda L&K 130, celebrated 130 years of Škoda Auto. The upcoming model shifts the focus to the company’s long history of apprenticeships and technical education, a theme that ties the build directly to the students creating it.

Škoda says the students work under the guidance of teachers, vocational training instructors and Škoda Auto experts, and experience the full process of creating a unique car — from the first design ideas and construction preparation through to the actual build. Along the way, the company adds, they gain insight into how the carmaker operates and make contacts with experienced specialists.

A longer development window

The most notable change from earlier editions is the timeline. Rather than being completed within a single school year, the eleventh Student Car is being developed over a two-year period, with the reveal scheduled for the end of the 2026/2027 academic year.

Škoda has not yet disclosed the base model, body style or technical details of the car, so key specifications remain open at this early stage.

What it means

The Student Car programme is one of the more visible ways the automotive industry showcases its apprenticeship pipeline, and Škoda’s series has produced a run of distinctive one-off vehicles over the years. Extending the build to two years suggests a more ambitious project than usual, though the finished car will not be seen until the 2026/2027 academic year draws to a close.

Full details, including the model on which the eleventh Student Car is based, are expected closer to the unveiling.
