It’s not an exaggeration to call a lawn mower that can accelerate faster than a Tesla S P90D pretty impressive. Honda has finally answered one of life’s big questions: just how fast can the world’s quickest accelerating lawn mower go? The answer is clear now, as the Honda Mean Mower V2 recently set a record that has been officially recognized in the Guinness World Records for being the fastest accelerating lawn mower. Honda was previously the record holder, but they have outdone themselves with the Mean Mower V2.
The record was set at the Dekra Lausitzring near Dresden, where the mower achieved an astonishing time of 6.285 seconds from 0 to 161 km/h (100 mph).
The powerhouse behind this remarkable acceleration is Honda’s 999 cc motorcycle engine, typically found in the CBR1000RR Fireblade. This four-cylinder engine typically produces up to 200 horsepower at 13,000 rpm.
Interestingly, the Mean Mower V2 didn’t just set the acceleration record; it also reached a top speed of 243 km/h. However, this attempt was measured solely by Honda and has not been officially recognized as a record.
And yes, the Mean Mower V2 is fully functional as a lawn mower—it features two carbon fiber blades powered by two electric motors.
Unfortunately, the press materials do not provide any details on how quickly the Mean Mower V2 can mow a long football field.
