The new Volkswagen Tayron: a spacious and versatile SUV for Europe

Volkswagen introduces the Tayron, its second-largest SUV in Europe, positioned between the premium Touareg and the mid-class Tiguan. With its robust SUV design, the Tayron offers a sophisticated and spacious interior, available in five- or seven-seat configurations, and provides up to 885 liters of luggage space. With a maximum trailer weight of 2.5 tonnes, the Tayron is a well-equipped and practical towing vehicle, making it perfect for families and adventurers alike.

Innovative Powertrain Options

One of the standout features of the Tayron is its innovative powertrain. The Tayron eHybrid model offers a plug-in hybrid system, delivering excellent performance with an electric range of over 100 kilometers, making it ideal for everyday electric driving. At launch, the Tayron will be available with a 110 kW mild hybrid system, starting at €45,475. Seven efficient drive systems will soon be available, including two plug-in hybrid versions with an overall driving range of up to 850 kilometers, providing both power and efficiency.

The Tayron’s exterior boasts a sharp and powerful design, featuring LED headlights and an illuminated Volkswagen badge at the front. The rear is equally striking with a full-length LED crossbar and illuminated logo. Inside, the Tayron’s premium feel is enhanced by high-quality materials like ArtVelours Eco microfiber and open-pore wood accents, as well as illuminated decorative trim. At approximately 4.8 meters in length, the Tayron combines a spacious cabin with stylish design elements, creating a vehicle that’s both practical and visually appealing.

The entry-level Tayron Life trim comes equipped with a range of impressive standard features, including nine airbags, a three-zone automatic air conditioning system, and 10-color ambient lighting. The infotainment system features a 32-centimeter touchscreen with navigation and App-Connect Wireless, offering seamless smartphone integration. The Tayron also includes LED headlights with automatic main beam control, 17-inch alloy wheels, and sun blinds for rear passengers, ensuring a comfortable and connected driving experience.

Advanced Driver Assistance Systems

Safety and convenience are at the heart of the Tayron’s design, with an array of standard driver assistance systems. These include adaptive cruise control (ACC), lane-keeping assist, automatic emergency braking with pedestrian and cyclist monitoring, and Park Assist Plus with a rearview camera. The Tayron’s exit warning system, part of the lane-change assist feature, prevents doors from being opened when other vehicles are approaching from behind, enhancing safety for passengers.

For those looking for additional luxury, the Tayron offers a variety of premium options, such as adaptive chassis control (DCC Pro), IQ.LIGHT HD matrix headlights, and a Harman-Kardon sound system. Drivers can also enjoy a tilting and sliding panoramic sunroof, leather upholstery with massage and ventilation functions, and an electrically activated child safety lock for the rear seats.

Volkswagen will offer the Tayron with a range of powertrains, including mild hybrid, plug-in hybrid, petrol, and diesel options. The plug-in hybrid models, with outputs of 150 kW and 200 kW, offer impressive electric ranges of over 100 kilometers, thanks to a 19.7 kWh battery that can be charged at both AC and DC charging stations. The Tayron’s diesel option with 142 kW and 4MOTION all-wheel drive is designed for heavy-duty tasks, offering a maximum towing capacity of 2.5 tonnes.
