Performance Driven by a 4.4-Liter Twin Turbo Mild-Hybrid V8

Powered by a 4.4-liter Twin Turbo mild-hybrid V8 engine, the OCTA model is the most extreme and powerful Defender ever, with 635 hp and up to 750 Nm of torque, allowing for 0-100 km/h acceleration in 4 seconds. It also features an improved chassis with innovative technologies, including 6D Dynamics suspension that elevates its dynamic capabilities to new heights.

Bold New Design

The Q5’s design is sharper and more robust than ever, featuring increased height, width, oversized wheel arches, and redesigned bumpers. Together with its rugged underbody, the Defender OCTA exudes confidence and readiness to explore in up to 1 meter of water.

Mark Cameron, Managing Director of Defender, stated: “With the new Defender OCTA, we have been able to unlock the full potential of the Defender. It showcases everything we can achieve when we leverage the best technologies and expertise. With its powerful V8 engine, groundbreaking 6D Dynamics suspension technology, exquisite finishes, and unique details, it stands out as robust and appealing.”

The name Defender OCTA is derived from the hardest and most coveted mineral on Earth—a diamond—and its octahedral shape gives it a distinctive appearance and durability. This form also inspired the new signature graphics, making it a flagship model in the Defender family: strong and resilient yet elegant, unique, and attractive

New Features and Enhanced Capabilities

All new Defender OCTAs feature a diamond graphic and a glossy black diamond on a machined and sandblasted titanium plate on the Signature Graphic panels.

In its first production year, the Defender OCTA is available in an Edition One variant. It comes with a special equipment list, including an exclusive new color, Faroe Green, complemented by Khaki and Ebony Ultrafabrics™ PU (polyurethane), new Chopped Carbon Fiber details, and 20-inch alloy wheels with two different tire options: All-terrain or specially developed Advanced All-Terrain.

Unmatched Performance

The new Defender OCTA brings unprecedented performance to the Defender lineup. Powered by a 635 hp 4.4-liter Twin Turbo mild-hybrid V8 engine paired with an eight-speed automatic transmission with high and low range gears, it is the most powerful and extreme Defender ever. The new Defender OCTA has a top speed of 250 km/h when equipped with 22-inch lightweight alloy wheels and all-season tires.

With a torque of 750 Nm (up to 800 Nm in Dynamic Launch Mode) and tuned to suit the vehicle’s exceptional off-road performance, the new Defender OCTA can accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in 4 seconds, with maximum torque available from just 1,800 to nearly 6,000 rpm.

Incredible Capacity and Durability

The dynamic capabilities of the new Defender OCTA reach new heights, thanks in part to its hydraulically linked 6D Dynamics suspension technology and improved chassis. It is designed for unrivaled performance on any surface.

The Defender OCTA’s ground clearance is 28 mm higher, and the wheels are positioned 68 mm wider. This provides even more ground clearance and stability. To ensure exceptional confidence and control on all surfaces, with maximum wheel articulation off-road and reduced body roll on the road, the revised suspension components include longer and stiffer control arms and unique active dampers with separate accumulators. It also features upgraded 400 mm brake discs at the front with Brembo calipers and the fastest and most precise steering ratio ever for a Defender.

A comprehensive testing and development program featuring over 13,960 tests—including high-speed off-road and on-road assessments—has been established for the Defender OCTA.

Jamal Hameedi, Director of SVO, JLR, stated: “Our performance experts have achieved the impossible with the Defender OCTA. They have worked tirelessly over the past three years to create the most robust Defender ever made. They have re-engineered components to ensure that the Defender OCTA is the perfect companion for epic adventures anywhere on the planet.”

The vehicle’s road presence is exceptional due to its advanced damping system, which incorporates sophisticated hydraulic technology, and, together with the 6D Dynamics system, it contributes to ultimate comfort and refinement.

On uneven terrain, 6D Dynamics allows for greater wheel articulation, enabling the new Defender OCTA to tackle even more extreme obstacles without compromising comfort.

Thanks to improved driving modes, the Defender OCTA automatically recognizes the surface it’s driving on and optimizes its dynamic settings accordingly. In addition to the standard setting, Dynamic Mode delivers the ultimate performance-focused on-road experience, adjusting both steering characteristics, acceleration, and suspension.

The new OCTA Mode is the first dedicated Defender off-road driving mode focused on performance. It has been specially developed to ensure ultimate control and visibility, and along with Off-Road Launch mode, it provides optimal acceleration and braking capabilities on loose gravel.

The new Defender is, of course, equipped with the usual Terrain Response driving modes, featuring specific calibrations for sand, mud and ruts, grass, and rock crawling, including ClearSight Ground3 View.

Confident Exterior

The 33-inch diameter tires, the largest ever fitted to a Defender, including Goodyear Advanced All-Terrain tires developed specifically for the OCTA model, necessitated the expansion of the wheel arches. They beautifully complement the off-road-optimized front body design with a unique grille that allows for better airflow under the hood. At the rear, a new bumper features an active exhaust system with four outlets, robust underbody protection, including a front shield made of aluminum alloy with a graphite finish, and exposed phosphor-bronze treated recovery points at the front and rear.

The color palette for the Defender OCTA includes two new exclusive metallic finishes: Petra Copper and Faroe Green. Additionally, it is available in Carpathian Grey and Charente Grey. All variants come with a contrasting roof and tailgate in gloss Narvik Black. Moreover, an optional matte protective film is available.

Faroe Green is exclusively available on the Defender OCTA Edition One, along with Chopped Carbon Fibre details. Additionally, recycled materials have been utilized for components such as the hood and air intakes, and on the backs of the front seats and the center console.

Of course, there is also an array of accessories available for the new Defender OCTA, including a dual snorkel intake and a winch mounting kit for more extreme adventures.

Luxurious and Convenient Interior

Choose between two extra-durable Ultrafabrics™ PU options, which are 30% lighter than traditional leather. For the Defender OCTA Edition One, this type is standard in a two-tone version: Khaki and Ebony.

The standard interior of the Defender OCTA features new Burnt Sienna semi-aniline leather, with upholstery from Kvadrat™ in Ebony. The Defender OCTA is also available with Ultrafabrics™ PU in Light Cloud and Lunar or in semi-aniline leather in Ebony.

The front row of the Defender OCTA boasts completely new Performance seats that provide extra support and feature integrated headrests. Additionally, the Defender is available for the first time with Body and Soul Seat sound technology, developed in collaboration with music experts from SUBPAC and Coventry University, offering six wellness programs for ultimate comfort.
