For the third time in its 40-year history, BMW is offering the M5 in a Touring version. The new BMW M5 Touring combines top-tier performance with everyday usability and long-distance comfort.
The first Touring version was introduced back in 1992 alongside the second generation of the BMW M5 Sedan. In 2007, the fourth generation of this high-performance sedan was also accompanied by a BMW M5 Touring.
Now, this new edition continues the success story, allowing customers once again to choose between two body variants of the BMW M5.
With a fresh interpretation of the characteristic M design, the new BMW M5 Touring clearly expresses its race-inspired character.
The model-specific design features prominent wheel arches, muscular shoulders, and a long roofline that emphasizes its athletic appearance from the side.
The sculptural front end is shaped by large air intakes and a newly designed BMW M kidney grille, complete with BMW Iconic Glow contour lighting as standard.
At the rear, the narrow taillights and a split diffuser with two pairs of integrated exhaust pipes give it a wide and powerful stance.
The trunk can be expanded from 500 to 1,630 liters, and the optional electric towbar can handle up to 2,000 kg.
The M Hybrid powertrain combines a 4.4-liter V8 engine with an electric motor, delivering a combined output of 727 horsepower and a torque of 1,000 Nm.
The top speed is electronically limited to 250 km/h, which can be increased to 305 km/h with the optional M Driver’s Package.
Acceleration from 0 to 100 km/h takes just 3.6 seconds.
The high-voltage battery provides 18.6 kWh of usable energy, allowing for an electric range of up to 67 kilometers. AC charging is possible at up to 11 kW.
The M-specific setup options allow for customization based on the current driving situation, including adjustments to the suspension, steering, brakes, all-wheel drive, or rear-wheel drive, as well as regenerative braking energy recovery.
Track mode includes the M Laptimer and Boost function for a particularly dynamic driving experience.
The new BMW M5 Touring will have its world premiere at the Monterey Car Week in California, USA, in mid-August. The market launch will begin in November 2024, coinciding with the start of production at the BMW Group Plant Dingolfing in Germany.
