The first Range Rover Electric prototypes are currently being tested in extremely cold temperatures in northern Sweden. This means that after many years of development and testing, we are soon ready to present one of the quietest and most refined Range Rover models ever created.
The all-new Range Rover Electric has a clear mission: it is designed to be the benchmark against which other electric vehicles are measured, in terms of refinement, luxury, and performance. To achieve this, some of the first prototypes are now being tested in extreme climates—from -40°C north of the Arctic Circle in Sweden to +50°C in the deserts of the Middle East.
These tests will reveal how the battery, transmission, motor, and electronics perform under extreme stress. The goal is to ensure that the high standards of Range Rover and its capability to drive in all terrains, under all weather conditions, and on any surface remain intact—even in its electric form.
The new Range Rover Electric is equipped with an advanced Traction Control System that, unlike traditional systems, distributes power to the wheels from the ABS unit. This system manages power distribution for each electric motor unit based on how well each wheel has grip. This innovation has reduced the reaction time at each wheel from approximately 100 milliseconds to just 1 millisecond. Together with the stability and chassis systems, this results in maximum traction and a comfortable, refined driving experience, regardless of how extreme the conditions may be.
