Nissan Formula E Team scored in both races at the London finale of the 2025/26 ABB FIA Formula E World Championship, closing out the GEN3 era. Oliver Rowland took points on Saturday and Sunday, while Norman Nato added a top-10 finish in his final outing for the squad. The Japanese team ends Season 12 sixth in the Teams’ Championship, with Rowland fourth among the drivers.

Nissan Formula E Team wrapped up the 2025/26 ABB FIA Formula E World Championship with points from both London races, bringing an end to the series’ GEN3 era. Oliver Rowland scored on Saturday and Sunday, and Norman Nato finished inside the top 10 in the season finale.

A recovery drive on Saturday

Neither driver made it through to the Duels in qualifying for Round 16, leaving Rowland 13th and Nato 16th on the grid. A badly timed Full Course Yellow then disrupted Rowland’s race strategy, but a late push carried him back to 10th place and earned him the bonus point for fastest lap.

Nato made up ground on the opening lap before contact with another car left him with a puncture. He fought on to the finish and came home 15th.

Both cars in the points in the finale

Sunday’s race — the last of the season and of the GEN3 rules era — began from even further back. Rowland lined up 17th after another difficult qualifying session, while a technical problem stopped Nato from setting a time at all, leaving him 19th.

The team once again saved energy in the early phase and left both Attack Mode activations until later in the race. After running outside the points for much of the E-Prix, the pair moved forward in the closing stages, staying clear of incidents and picking off positions. Rowland climbed to ninth and took a second fastest-lap point, with Nato just behind in 10th.

How the season played out

Season 12 brought Nissan six podium finishes and a win in Monaco. Rowland stayed in the Drivers’ Championship fight until the final weekend, adding podiums in São Paulo, Mexico City, Jeddah and Berlin, while Nato picked up points regularly, including fifth place in Berlin. After a difficult run in China, the team scored in each of the last four races, taking in its home event in Tokyo and the London finale.

The final tally reads sixth in the Teams’ Championship, fourth in the drivers’ standings for Rowland and 19th for Nato, with Nissan fifth in the Manufacturers’ Championship.

“Overall, it has been a season of ups and downs; we’ve had some really strong results, but we’ve been inconsistent,” said Tommaso Volpe, managing director and team principal. “At times it hasn’t been easy, but everyone in the team has done everything possible to give us the best chance at every event, keeping us in contention for the Drivers’ Championship until the last weekend and fighting for points until the very end.”

Volpe put the GEN3 period in a wider frame, noting that the team arrived new to the grid for Season 9 and closes the era with 21 podiums, seven wins and a Drivers’ World Championship. London also marked Nato’s exit; he has spent three of the past four years with the team and took its first ever podium in Season 9.

“To finish in the top four of the championship for a third consecutive season is still something we can be proud of,” Rowland said, adding that the London circuit was never expected to suit the car.

What comes next

Attention now shifts to the GEN4 car. Nissan says its full focus is on the closing stages of that development programme ahead of Season 13, and the manufacturer was the first to commit to the GEN4 rules, which run until 2030. Nissan entered Formula E in Season 5 (2018/19) as the only Japanese manufacturer in the series and bought the e.dams team outright in April 2022.

For Nato, the move is a change of direction: the Frenchman says he is heading for another chapter in his career after three seasons with the squad.
