Škoda Auto has begun series production of its new Peaq at the main plant in Mladá Boleslav, where the model shares a line with the electric Elroq and Enyaq and the combustion-engined Octavia. The company says almost 8,500 orders had been placed by the end of July, following the car’s market launch in June. In its highest specification, the Peaq carries the largest traction battery Škoda has fitted to date, at 91 kWh gross.

Škoda Auto has moved the new Peaq into series production at its main plant in Mladá Boleslav, the Czech carmaker announced on 6 August 2026. The model rolls down the same assembly line as two fully electric cars, the Elroq and the Enyaq, and the combustion-engined Octavia.

Running battery-electric and petrol or diesel models through a single line is the point of the exercise. According to the manufacturer, the mixed setup lets it shift the production balance between Mladá Boleslav and its second Czech plant in Kvasiny as demand moves or as global supply chains are disrupted — a hedge that has become common across the industry as EV uptake varies from market to market.

A line converted step by step

The assembly line was originally laid out for combustion-engine cars and has been reworked over several years to take electric models. The Enyaq was the first EV built there, in 2020, followed by the Elroq in January 2025 and now the Peaq.

Adding the Peaq called for further engineering work. Škoda says larger production skids were introduced to improve ergonomics and workplace safety, and a new manipulator was installed to fit the car’s third row of seats.

The biggest battery Škoda has built

In its top specification, the Peaq uses the largest traction battery ever fitted to a Škoda. It has a gross capacity of 91 kWh (86 kWh net) and, according to the company, allows a range of more than 640 km (398 miles). The battery systems themselves are assembled at a new facility on the Mladá Boleslav site rather than shipped in, keeping a significant share of the value chain in-house.

Early demand

The Peaq reached the market in June. By the end of July, Škoda says it had taken almost 8,500 orders — an early indicator rather than a sales record, but a signal that the model has found an audience in its first weeks on sale.

The wider picture

Škoda currently builds vehicles at nine plants worldwide. Its Vrchlabí site supplies automatic transmissions to the entire Volkswagen Group, underlining how closely the brand’s Czech operations are tied into the parent group’s manufacturing network.
