Ford has used a music festival to show off one of the more practical features of its plug-in hybrid Ranger: the ability to run mains-powered equipment straight from the truck. At the FAR Festival in Valencia, Spain, the company says its Ford Pro team powered a DJ booth directly from a Ranger PHEV fitted with Pro Power Onboard, turning the pickup into a self-contained stage.

What Pro Power Onboard does

Pro Power Onboard is Ford’s name for the integrated power system that lets a vehicle act as a mobile generator, feeding electricity to tools, equipment or — in this case — audio gear through built-in sockets. Rather than trucking in a separate generator, the festival setup drew its power from the Ranger PHEV itself, according to the manufacturer.

The technology is aimed primarily at tradespeople and businesses that need power on a job site, but Ford has repeatedly used lifestyle and event settings to highlight its everyday flexibility. Powering a beachside DJ set is squarely in that vein.
