Škoda Auto has rolled its one-millionth Karoq off the line at its Kvasiny plant in the Czech Republic. The milestone car is a 1.5 TSI 110 kW petrol version finished in Graphite Grey. Launched in 2017, the compact SUV is now sold in around 60 markets, and Škoda says a next-generation model will be revealed at the turn of 2027 and 2028.

Škoda Auto has reached a notable production landmark, building the millionth example of its Karoq compact SUV at the Kvasiny plant. According to the company, the milestone vehicle is a Karoq 1.5 TSI with 110 kW (150 hp) petrol power, painted in Graphite Grey.

Since arriving in 2017 as the brand’s third SUV at the time, the Karoq has become a fixture of Škoda’s range. The company now offers 14 model series, nine of them SUVs, and says the Karoq is the third best-selling model within that SUV line-up. It received a mid-life update four years after launch.

A practical SUV with a broad engine range

The Karoq is currently sold in around 60 markets worldwide. Buyers can choose from 1.0 TSI, 1.4 TSI, 1.5 TSI and 2.0 TSI petrol engines, plus a 2.0 TDI diesel, with outputs ranging from 85 to 140 kW (116 to 190 hp) and a choice of front- or all-wheel drive. Škoda says 73% of customers pick an automatic gearbox and 27% a manual, and lists Germany, the Czech Republic and the United Kingdom as its largest markets.

The model has also collected a series of awards over the years. Škoda points to a Red Dot Award for Product Design, the 2018 Car of the Year title in the Czech Republic, and the Best Value Family SUV honour at the 2023 What Car? Awards.

What the Kvasiny plant means for the milestone

The Karoq has been built at Kvasiny since launch and accounts for a significant share of the plant’s output. The site, which also produces the Octavia and Kodiaq, has an annual capacity of more than 300,000 vehicles. Škoda says the plant set a record in 2025 with 301,500 cars built, following the expansion of Kodiaq production and the addition of the Octavia, and that the Octavia Combi has been made there since May 2026. The company adds that the plant’s paint shop will be upgraded this year to raise quality standards and allow the use of more advanced paint materials.

“Reaching the one-million mark reflects the commitment and teamwork of many people over the years. I would like to thank all colleagues in Kvasiny for their dedication, as well as our social partner KOVO for our long-standing, constructive and trusted cooperation,” said Andreas Dick, responsible for Production and Logistics at Škoda Auto.

What it means

A million units over roughly nine years underlines how central mainstream compact SUVs remain to Škoda’s business, even as the brand pushes into electric models such as the Elroq, Enyaq and upcoming Epiq. The current Karoq competes with rivals including the Volkswagen Tiguan, Nissan Qashqai and Kia Sportage. Škoda says work on the next generation is progressing, with a reveal planned for the turn of 2027 and 2028.
