Nissan has unveiled the all-new Tekton, a Patrol-inspired C-SUV developed and built in India in partnership with Renault. The company says the model will be sold at home and exported to 50 markets across the Middle East and Africa, making it a cornerstone of its Re:Nissan turnaround. It rides on the Alliance CMF-B platform and offers turbocharged petrol power with up to 163 PS.

Nissan has taken the wraps off the all-new Tekton, a C-segment SUV that the company positions as a key step in its ongoing turnaround and a sign of India’s growing importance to its global plans. The world premiere took place in India, where the car is developed and built.

According to the manufacturer, the Tekton was engineered and manufactured in India in partnership with Renault, for both the domestic market and export. Nissan says the model will be shipped to 50 markets across the Middle East and Africa, reinforcing India’s role as both a growth market and an export hub within its AMIEO region.

Patrol-inspired design

Nissan says the Tekton draws its styling from the larger Patrol, aiming for a commanding stance and a confident road presence. The company describes it as a bold SUV built around what it calls a customer-first philosophy, with input gathered from thousands of SUV buyers across India, the Middle East and Africa. It also frames the car as part of 75 years of Nissan SUV heritage.

Engines and platform

The Tekton is built on the Alliance CMF-B platform. Nissan says it will offer a choice of turbocharged petrol engines — a 1.0-litre turbo and a 1.3-litre turbo — with the range topping out at 163 PS (161 hp / 120 kW) and 280 Nm of torque. The company has not published performance figures such as 0–100 km/h times or top speed, and no fuel or hybrid variants beyond these petrol units were mentioned.

Cabin, tech and safety

Inside, the Tekton gets a spacious cabin with a panoramic sunroof, ventilated front seats, dual-zone climate control and a large luggage compartment, according to Nissan. Connectivity runs on Google built-in, including Google Maps, Google Assistant and Google Play, paired with a digital cockpit and connected services.

On safety, Nissan lists a reinforced body structure, six airbags and a suite of driver-assistance systems, including Adaptive Cruise Control, Autonomous Emergency Braking, Lane Keep Assist and Blind Spot Warning.

A quote from Nissan

We are building a stronger and more competitive Nissan in India. As we continue to strengthen our SUV-led portfolio and sharpen our market focus, the world premiere of the all-new Nissan Tekton reflects our ambition to leverage strategic partnerships to expand our market coverage. Tekton is a clear expression of how Nissan is transforming with purpose – towards a more competitive, diverse portfolio.

That is how Guillaume Cartier, Chief Performance Officer at Nissan, framed the launch, tying the Tekton to the wider Re:Nissan strategy of portfolio expansion and network growth.

What it means

The C-SUV class is one of the most crowded segments in the markets Nissan is targeting, and the Tekton lands against established rivals in India and the Gulf. By sharing engineering and the CMF-B platform with Renault, Nissan can spread development costs while widening its own line-up — a pragmatic route back to relevance in high-growth regions.
